Vespa New Orleans Welcomes Alex Austin

There is a new face in sales at Vespa New Orleans. Alex Austin comes to us from Vespa of California in Los Angeles. Orignally from northern Cali, Alex started his Vespa life while still in high school. In the early 90s he got his first Vespa. A 1976 Rally 200, but soon had to give it up. It was not until Vespa of California opened in 2001 that Alex got back into the Vespa scene.

Alex is a founding member of the International Scooter Club, The Vespastics. He rides a tricked out 1979 P125X with a custom paint job. He and his wife, Jayme make their move to the big easy the first week of February. Come by and tell Alex hello!

Mardi Gras Scooter Tips

Mardi Gras is a great time to have a scooter, but there are some things to be aware of.

• Be careful where you park! Keep your scooter parked away from the crowds to avoid it being knocked over.
• Always lock you scooter!
• St. Charles Ave headed westbound is always open. It is very easy to get through the crowd on a scooter!
• Most importantly, Don't Drink and Drive!

Clearing up the Motorcycle Endorsement Rules

50cc scooters DO require motorcycle endorsements

To clear up the confusion Vespa New Orleans has done some research on DMV law reguarding motocycle endorsments in Louisiana. The law reads: The operator of any motorcycle, motor driven cycle or motorized bicycle, regardless of brake horsepower, maximum speed, or size of motor, must have an "M" endorsement on one of the basic classes of operator's license to operate such vehicle on the streets, highways, or roadways in Louisiana.

Enjoy Mardi Gras from a totally new point of view. We will have our 3rd annual Mardi Gras ride. Visit both ends of the parade route all in one day!! We will meet at Vespa New Orleans 9:30am for coffee and pull out at 10am.

Details are still being worked out, but this is a very fun event that includes a police escorted from Mid-City to the St Joseph's Alter in the French Market. This year will be joined by NOPD Piaggio scooters, and the Ferrari Club of Louisiana. Stay Tunned!
